Clothing retail expert, Colour & wardrobe planning, Image consultant,Personal Stylist, Adventurer

Style Workshop: 15 & 17 June 2010

Time:  7-9pm

Marilyn has learned her wardrobe planning and makeover skills not only from her training but from her many  life experiences.  For example when she was growing up in Gore her mother managed a Corsetry salon above a shoe store - where as she puts it "I discovered by love of lace and leather (shoes and undies only!!)"

On leaving school her first job was with H & J Smith where she used her creative ability in being a display artist, also gained a diploma in deportment and modeling, where she used these skills to model and compare for fashion parades.

After marrying Marilyn and her husband Carson farmed for 12 years, during which she had three children.

Then onto being in the tourist industry for the next 15 years; also serving on the North Otago Promotions committee.

In 2000 became a lifeguard, swim teacher for the Waitaki Aquatic Centre specializing in teaching babies to swim which was very rewarding working the mothers and babies.

Marilyn has always had a love of fashion coming from a long line of teachers who were involved with tailoring, dressmaking and embroidery; and enjoyed sewing for herself and others for a number of years.

For the past seven years Marilyn has enjoyed helping people co-ordinate their outfits at Greer Gowns, a leading fashion retail store in Oamaru. Last year found herself wanting to do something she always thought would be the most fabulous job in the world, and that was to become a Personal Stylist.

Marilyn's life experiences and industries she has been involved have a central theme of working directly with people; which gives Marilyn a great rapport and empathy with everyone.

Marilyn is enthusiastic and supportive for those who wish to take the next step in discovering how they would truly like to dress and fit their lifestyle, whether it is casual or business like.
