The other suggestion is to do some changing with a garment e.g. change the buttons, neckline, add some bling, take it to alteration business and get them to redesign the garment to work with the new look. I have just done this with four of my garments as I liked the colour but the design and look needed an update.
Please give me a call if you would like some extra help. You may need a wardrobe sort or some shopping time - give yourself a lift - Change your life today!
Kind regards and Happy shopping!

What’s happening this Season. . . .
Sorry folks this season is not easy season for colour, but there are a number of new additions that are interesting and exciting to wear. They are . . .
Coats:this replaces the need for the usual short jacket this season, in basic black, cream, variety of cool and warm reds. I have seen a number of creative casual/dressing woolen jackets either long line or asymmetrical fun garments that co-ordinates well with the pencil skirt (yes it is back!), leggings, slim line jeans and trouser that is being worn this season.
Straight Skirt worn with chunky court or angle strap forties style shoe, or lace up court or knee high boots.
Trousers: skinny stretch to be worn with long line knits, tops, tunics, wrap dresses.Jean Jones has some black 3/4 and full length stretch that are reasonable price and fit.
Knits: these too replace the jacket and can be worn dressy or casual. The following are ideas for the three main personalities, but remember to do the balance of your two main ones to make your 'look'.
Natural: chunky, cable jumpers, and long knites, sort crop sleeveless in chunky plain stitch with large natural buttons.
Classic: fine knit cardigans and polo neck, fine merino everywhere. Anyone looking for cream - Witchery and Ballantynes tourist section - entrance from the carpark. They have some fabulous colours as well - coral red, orange, blue, fuchsia.
Feminine: lacy knits and soft draping long line knits.Max have some long line lacy but only in black and dark brown.
Creative: not easy to find - this season has and overall classical look so creative personality will have to look outside the square and be prepared to look at going to what I call destination shops to find something different. For Christchurch shoppers I saw an orange asymmetrical soft casual wool jacket in Blonde Red in High Street - look nothing on the hanger but looks fab on.Made in Nelson. Check it out!
Dresses: jersey knit, wrap, sweater worn over skinny jeans, slim pants, soft knit tapered fitting trou/legging (Jean Jones) , or opaque tights and boots either ankle or knee high.
Soft blouses: worn with pencil skirt, halter floating top over polo or similar. Nice to see the feminine blouse back - not sure for how long though.
Accessories: shoes - platforms, chunky heels - remember scale. New style court with ankle straps (for those with slim pins and ankles), flats either shoes -ballet style or boots - remember flats look best with shorter skirts, 3/4 pants, and not for the 'not so tall' of us, as can look short and frumpy.Lots of stilettos and fine pointed toes - best for those with slim feet.Textured and patterned tights.
Belts: wide with big buckles or narrow and studded.
Scarfs: these add colour to otherwise a netural outfit or top. There is so much dark colour in the shop at present, so do not full into the trap of buying black/dark because it is allyou can find.Great for those who suit black near the face but for those who need some colour go for black only on the bottom half, then team with a garment on the top that has a small amount of black in the pattern (as long as it is only a minor part of the pattern)and plenty of colour. Or wear colour top with a black belt or trim to bring black into the top part of the body in a minor way so that you achieve rhythmn (flow) in your outfit.
I have access to one colour pashminas, which I can order for you. They are 100% pashmina (of which I have my favourite apple green one).Only $99. If you wish to get one give me a call to see the colour chart.
What to buy for your personality . . .
Natural - chunky knits, skinny jeans (only if they suit you) worn with long knits. Classic - trench coats, knit stripped top with hip band.Feminine - pencil skirt with court shoe and blouse.Creative - metallic tops, nailpolish and eyeshadow, colour , texture.
Colour- Winter white and cream are having a come back and so nice to see - will uplift other darker neutrals and give a fresh look to your wardrobe.Red Red Red and more Red . . . Raspberry red and coral, orange red, basic primary red.Orange in varying shades and richness - make sure you get your best intensity.Beware - Autumn tones of yellow, orange, olive green and brown - only suits the true Autumn colouring. Jewels tones give a real zing to your wardrobe - warm colours - orange, tangerine, yellow, Kelly green. Basic colour emerald and primary red.Cool colours -electric blue, purple, aubergine, turquoise, fuchsia.
I am constantly updating my wardrobe by adding a few pieces per season, and teaming them up with garments already in the wardrobe, thereby wearing what is existing differently. That is one of the reasons why you will say I have nothing to wear or you are sick of your existing clothes - because you wear them the same way every time. My advice is to mix them up and come up with some different combinations. Add patterned tights and new style shoes.
